No prairie dogs should be killed in this plan; all should be left alone or humanely relocated The plan needs a detailed proposal on how the community can work together to manage our few remaining prairie dog colonies. It needs an education and outreach component expounding the virtues and benefits of living in harmony with our wild neighbors.
• More funding should be allocated for prairie wildlife management – not less!
• The legacy gained by past citizen leaders has put Boulder in the spotlight as a hero for open space, wildlife and forethought.
• We should not replace that legacy with one of environmental destruction and animal cruelty.
• If this City Council accepts the current proposed plan to kill prairie wildlife, they will be remembered and held accountable for the turning against compassion, wildlife, wild lands and the will of the people.
• In many situations, humans can co-exist with prairie wildlife -- playing fields can be protected.
• This is not about prairie dogs over kids; it is about preserving wildlife for our children and for future generations who rely on us to do the right thing.
• We have the intelligence, compassion and creativity to find nonviolent solutions.
