Keep Boulder Wild!

Click here to listen to the June 1, 2006 discussion on the plight of Boulder's prairie wildlife as heard on KGNU, Boulder's Independent Community Radio.

There are several listening options including MP3, Podcast and Streaming Audio. Once you're at the link above, mouse over the small icons to the right to see pop-ups of your listening options.

The method of killing will be by Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The Humane Society of the United States calls this method, "... painful and inhumane" particlularly for prairie dogs who live underground in low-oxygen conditions.

Click here to view video footage of animals (rats) being killed using CO2. This is an mpeg video and may take a few moments to download.

Caution, the footage is graphic and disturbing.

Visit the City of Boulder's website for updated maps of prairie dog colonies and proposed killing by soffocation.
