Keep Boulder Wild aims to secure governmental policies and procedures promoting the non-lethal management of native wildlife within the City of Boulder.

The Boulder City Council members have given initial approval to a draft plan to kill the majority of prairie dogs within city limits.

When the prairie dogs die, so will the animals who depend on the prairie dogs for survival. Hawks, eagles, burrowing owls, coyotes, foxes, rabbits, snakes and other reptiles will starve to death and/or lose their ecosystem habitat and disappear forever.

The legacy gained by past citizen leaders has put Boulder in the spotlight as a hero for open space, wildlife and forethought. We should not replace that legacy with one of environmental destruction and animal cruelty.

Dear Members of Boulder City Council: ... we urge you to answer the call of the community to develop a humane and compassionate plan."

"The proposed method of [killing] these animals is CO 2 inhalation, a method that can be both painful and inhumane."

"The council’s approval of this proposal signifies a complete reversal of progressive and protective wildlife policy in Boulder."
